#Tarzan Revisited, or "Tarzan aux sources du mythe" as it was aired in France

Here is the link of a wonderful documentary that was aired in France on 2017, April the 27th: “Tarzan aux sources du mythe” (formerly known as “Tarzan Revisited” as it was produced in Australia. People outside of France probably won’t unfortunately be able to access the link). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSmAUtTw7Jc It explains in 52 minutes why the character became so mythical, and will probably still be for years to come, in spite of the wealth of criticisms written by “well-meaning” but completely wrong people, regarding the... #LegendofTarzan at the box-office!

To this day, after two months since the US release on July the 1st, The Legend of Tarzan eventually had a good box-office, in spite of the unexplainable critic backlash it suffered from. In the United States, The Legend of Tarzan defied all expectations. When some critics were predicting a disaster like Pan, the Warner movie which cost 150 million dollars and had a meager 128 million dollars return at the box-office, The Legend of Tarzan earned week after week since its release more than anticipated, sign of a very good word of mouth... #LegendofTarzan Review of a great movie, an unexpected rebirth!

The last live-action Tarzan movie was released in 1998, and the least that can be said about it is that it didn’t make a lasting impression. In that regard it’s odd to see that both “Tarzan and the Lost City” and “The Legend of Tarzan” share many similarities! Both begin in London where Tarzan leads a gentrified life as John Clayton the Third. Particular circumstances lead him back to Africa, where he has to deal with a chief mercenary whose men are in love with their Gatling machinegun… So, what makes the difference in this new and... #LegendofTarzan Tarzan racist and colonialist? NO!

It seems that some critics have taken upon themselves to embark on a holy mission: keeping you away from The Legend of Tarzan by any means possible, so that you won’t be exposed to this archetypal symbol of racism and colonialism. Because, of course, you’re too stupid to form your own opinion. First thing first, my profound belief is that it’s completely stupid to apply real-world reasoning to imaginary tales. Tarzan doesn’t exist for real, no more so than Popeye or Superman. If you think about it for a minute, le very concept of... [Lire la suite]

Better Love by Hozier, the song from #TheLegendofTarzan

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wm4CrOfbHMI So the singer Hozier (Take Me To Church, among others) has been chosen to sing what will probably be the end credit song for The Legend of Tarzan. The end result is both romantic and grand, as are Burroughs' novels! By the way, regarding Burroughs'novel, here is a little quote: "Even though the novel was written a hundred years ago, it doesn't feel dated at all. I read it in 2015 and was mesmerized and blown away." Alexander Skarsgard

The second Tarzan trailer! #Tarzan

Here is the second Tarzan trailer! The least we can say is that the marketing doesn't rest on its laurels. As the first teaser trailer was about to pass in view numbers its rival from the week before, Independence Day 2, Warner Bros is releasing a second trailer, only slightly longer than the first one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLmKio67pVQ What wan we learn about the movie? For the first time maybe we will see the end of John Clayton/ the future Tarzan. parents' tragedy. It's a very important scene to understand the... [Lire la suite]

Retro viewing: #Tarzan and his Mate and #Tarzan Escapes

There are sequels that upgrade on the original. Such is the case with Tarzan and his Mate. Behind this "rom com" worthy title hides a movie quite simply epic! One year has passed since Tarzan the Ape Man. The hunter Harry Holt shaved his mustache but hasn't forgotten the elephant cemetary which is located on the Mutia Escarpment, a "tricky to get to" location where are now living Tarzan and Jane. He undertakes an expedition with one of his friends, Martin, a womanizer who will turn out to be quite a ruthless partner. Holt... [Lire la suite]

Retro-viewing: #Tarzan the Ape Man (1932)

While waiting for The Legend of Tarzan, to be released in July of juillet 2016, I just bought a 12 Tarzan movies collection of the movies starring Johnny Weissmuller from 1932 on, which left such an imprint in the audience minds that actor and character became one and only. I hadn't seen Tarzan the Ape Man in a very long time. Few black-and-white movies are aired on tv these days. In my mind, it had been an ok movie, and nothing more. Strangely enough, I must say that I can appreciate this movie now way more than I did when I saw it... [Lire la suite]

Happy New Year 2016! And what to look forward to for #JohnCarter and #Tarzan

First of all, I wish all of you a happy new year 2016! 2015 ended on a high note as far as I'm concerned, by viewing of Star Wars The Force Awakens, a movie that fulfilled all my expectations and hope for the future of Star Wars. http://normantrayfr.canalblog.com/archives/2015/12/28/33126557.html On the John Carter front, the year 2015 ended with two wonderful articles released after the release of Star Wars episode 7, one in French and one iun English, on the official Star Wars website, no less, reminding the influence the saga of... Let's go for The Legend of #Tarzan teaser!

Warner Bros doesn't let go of the pressure. After the photos and the poster, here is the first teaser for The Legend of Tarzan! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aj7ty6sViiU What can we learn from it? - We see Tarzan in his cot, discovered by Kala the Mangani, his future adoptive mother. She seems to have a child on her back, unlike the novels. Maybe is the toaddler Akut. Akut is an ape ally of Tarzan in the third novels, The Beasts of Tarzan. Maybe he will be in the movie an adoptive brother, and maybe it's him that is... [Lire la suite]
