Star Wars: The Force Awakens – SPOILERS INSIDE!

For a long time I wondered if I was going to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I hesitated until the last moment. I was waiting for the first reviews to take a decision. Will go? Won’t go? I dreaded the too enthusiastic first reactions that were drowning the Internet. I still had the bad taste in my mouth from the prequels reviews, which were quite hyperbolic when they had been released (“Attack of the Clones is THE Star Wars you were hoping for!”, “Revenge of the Sith is at last a return to the true Star Wars!”, yeah, riiiight…). I... [Lire la suite]

Star Trek the Next Generation : "it was the best of times, it was the worst of times"

1986: Star Trek 4 is a triumph at the American box-office. The Leonard Nimoy movie manages to gather fans of Star Trek but also viewers that were not especially invested in the saga. It’s been 7 years now that the franchise has been revitalized on the big screen, after having been envisioned originally as another tv show: Star Trek Phase 2, which would have seen all the classical actors back, with the exception, precisely, of Leonard Nimoy (another Vulcan would have replaced Spock). Now the problem for Paramount is what to do next.... [Lire la suite]

Star Trek the motion picture: the day I fell in love with Star Trek

Funny how you always remember the day you fell in love, when you could have forgotten everything about next week. Star Trek the motion picture was released 35 years ago, December the 6th of 1979.  But let’s move to 1986. I already knew Star Trek for a while, I had seen some episodes of the tv show on the French tv channel TF1, sometimes as a filler when there wasn’t something else to air (the episode I kept seeing againa nd again was “The Immunity Syndrome”). I liked it, but no more or less at this time than Battlestar Galactica... [Lire la suite]

50 signatures to 12,000 for the John Carter petition!! + the sequel in another studio?

11,950 signatures as of today, and I see many Frenches among them, that’s great! The 12,000 milestone isn’t far away, let’s reach it! http://www.change.org/petitions/alan-horn-chairman-walt-disney-pixar-studios-bring-back-john-carter-take-us-back-to-barsoom Still no official move about the possibility of a sequel. Some posters on Facebook would be willing to encourage studios other than Disney to do a follow-up, either for a sequel or a reboot. It’s premature for a simple reason: Disney holds the rights currently, nobody else.... [Lire la suite]

Spock of Mars!

Found on the internet, the combination of three passions of mine, Star Trek the original series, the first three Star Wars (1977-1983), and the Barsoom novels from Edgar Rice Burroughs. It gives... Spock of Mars! Combination of this Frank Frazetta painting: with this original Star Wars poster, the one with Sexy Leia and Hulk Luke!

Star Trek as I never read it before!

"These Are the Voyages : TOS season one" written by Marc Cushman is an impressive 600-pages book  detailing the genesis and the first season of the Star Trek original series, which means there will be two other volumes, for seasons 2 and 3. Am I complaining? Not in the least! Frankly, I thought I knew everything about Star Trek Classic, from the Making of to more recent reviewing books, from artbooks to actors, producers and writers biographies... I really thought I knew all. Apparently I was far from the... [Lire la suite]

Star Trek Continues!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3G-ziTBAkbQ One of my passions is Star Trek, original series (1966-1969) and Next Generation (1987-1993). Many fanfictions came out during the recent years thanks to increasingly accessible technical progress. Here is one in link which I find particularly remarkable. It’s a sequel of the episode “Who Mourns For Adonais” (second season, second episode), in which the crew of Enterprise meets the Greek God Appolo. - The original actor who played Apollo in 1967 takes again his role with...
