Star Wars: The Force Awakens – SPOILERS INSIDE!

For a long time I wondered if I was going to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I hesitated until the last moment. I was waiting for the first reviews to take a decision. Will go? Won’t go? I dreaded the too enthusiastic first reactions that were drowning the Internet. I still had the bad taste in my mouth from the prequels reviews, which were quite hyperbolic when they had been released (“Attack of the Clones is THE Star Wars you were hoping for!”, “Revenge of the Sith is at last a return to the true Star Wars!”, yeah, riiiight…). I... [Lire la suite]

#JohnCarter officially acknowledged as #StarWars ' ancestor!

THIS is what we should have seen as soon as John Carter's promotion began in 2011! George Lucas was in part inspired by Edgar Rice Burroughs' Barsoom stories, by his own admittance, and in the wake of Star Wars: The Force Awakens' phenomenal success, a wonderful article on StarWars.com acknowledges the links between the two sagas. Some will see in this a Disney attempt to sell more John Carter DVDs and BLU-RAYs, and why the hell not? The movie deserves it aplenty. ... [Lire la suite]

Tarzan 2016: the negativity begins already?

http://thejohncarterfiles.com/2015/10/uh-oh-here-it-comes-the-tarzan-negativity-narrative-has-begun/ One may beginning to wonder if Hollywwod seriously has something against Edgar Rice Burroughs adaptations. In a Hollywwod Reporter article of October the 14th of 2015, even if not a single frame has been released officially, the journalist Kim Masters shows a quite dark presentation out of the yet-to-come David Yates' Tarzan: not only is the movie unfinished, because David Yates was urgently required to helm Warner Bros' Harry Potter... Tarzan 2016: at least a more substantial feedback from the test screening!

Even if we don't have the whole details, here is what an IMDB user said about the April test screening, for which two short comments had been posted, one positive, one less so. http://normantrayeng.canalblog.com/archives/2015/04/19/31914436.html http://normantrayeng.canalblog.com/archives/2015/04/21/31926108.html This time these are comments from a Black American man aged between 25 and 44 (why is it important? Because the movie features touchy matters about African slavery in Congo during the 19th century), whose father... [Lire la suite]

More interest for a #JohnCarter tv series?

That's what says Jim Sullos anyway, president of ERB inc, in the l'article linked below. The recent financial failure of John Carter seems to paralyze movie producers, even if they still show interest in the property. "There may be more interest in a television series than a sequel to the film." Nothing official yet of course, The rights for a live-action or animated adaptation are still available. http://www.sfvbj.com/news/2015/jul/24/preview-mars-or-bust/

The petition for #JohnCarter 2 available again!

For a few weeks the petition for John Carter 2 had been closed. Did it reach a 3-years limit after it was launched? Whatever the reason, it's now accessible again for whomever is willing to sign it, it can't hurt! We're currently at 13,338 signatures + 1,960 gathered from conventions at the beginning of the campaign in 2012, so a sum of 15,298. Let's hope this amount goes flying in the next months, who knows? "We still live." ... [Lire la suite]

Kerry Conran's demo reel for #JohnCarter of Mars in HD

Between the first attempt at an adaptation in 1936 and the one finally released in 2012, John Carter knew quite a few false starts. Juste before Disney bought the rights again, those were at Paramount. Robert Rodriguez was supposed to direct the movie in the beginning. A friend of Harry Knowles, the founder of the famous Aint'It Cool News website, and knowing about his passion for "A Princess of Mars", he made him hired as a consultant/co-producer. Rodriguez left the project... because of Sin City. He wanted Frank Miller to be... [Lire la suite]

John Carter: the best videos on Youtube

First thing first, the trailers made by the awesome Michael D. Sellers, great admirer of Edgar Rice Burroughs and independent Hollywood filmmaker. Conscious of the abysmal weakness of the marketing campaign, he took upon himself to recut the official material, in these videos: The trailer that made Andrew Stanton write: "they get it"! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BxeHQY1NuM John Carter of Mars trailer : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSDHNMRQ2a8 The "Heritage" trailer that highlights the fact that John Carter inspired quite...
