A #JohnCarter video game proposal from 2012!

While I was searching for some John Carter poster image for the fifth anniversary of the movie's release, I stumbled upon Yan Le Pon's blog, a French storyboarder from the town of Lyon, who apparently proposed a video game to Disney Interactive before January of 2012, proposal that was rejected. On the link below you will find 15 storyboard pages that detail a rescue of Dejah Thoris. Also featured are Woola and some Tharks. Very promising, go visit this blog! "Here is a storyboard for a video game project done at ELB studio for an... [Lire la suite]

Last night I dreamed about the #JohnCarter 2 set!

Last night I had a dream. Usually I don’t remember my dreams at all. Sometimes I remember having dreamed something but without recalling any detail. And some dreams are so powerful you remember everything when you wake up. This is, of course, one of the latter I will write about!  I was, in short, on the John Carter 2 set. It was in my hometown, in France. I had noticed, while walking by, a whole crew building movie sets. And as John Carter in the novels knows instantly that he’s on Mars from the moment he steps on it, I knew... [Lire la suite]

A Carson of Venus movie in the works !

Thanks to a poster named Nerdvana, we learned the great news announced during the ERB Inc Comic Con panel this year: a movie could be produced out of the Edgar Rice Burroughs novels starring his hero Carson Napier. There are four novels, and a short story (even if the fourth novel is composed in fact of four short stories). The movie would adapt the first two, Pirates of Venus and Lost on Venus, which form indeed a whole story. The producers are Harry Kloor and Matthew Rhodes. The treatment is written and the... #JohnCarter 2 and 3: the last hurrah announced for September

Andrew Stanton, when someone asked about a John Carter 2, recently answered "Not for me. Maybe an event in the fall". It seems like this event could be a video recorded by Stanton, revealing what would have been the two sequels to John Carter. The video would be recorded in September, to be released on line later on. This would mark the end of the saga for this movie, which was as cursed as it was loved way after its release by many of its viewers, and that would be a wonderful way to thank all the die-hard fans for their... John Carter: 4 years today! #JohnCarter

It's been 4 years already that John Carter was released in all movie theaters in France, this very 7th of March 2012! At this time of the day, as I wrote in my post last year, I was hurrying towards a theater at the Place Clichy in Paris to be there on first showing, with my "Cycle de Mars volume 1" book in my bag. I had taken the afternoon off just for this event. Never distance seemed longer than in this day, matching my impatience. We were few in the room, unfortunately. At the end of... [Lire la suite]

Princess of Mars, the other #JohnCarter !

You will find below a picture featuring the main characters of John Carter, with their counterparts in Princess of Mars. Princess of Mars, what is it? If John Carter is indeed the first theatrical adaptation of A Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs, it's not the first adaptation in all. This "honor" is bestowed to a direct-to-video movie released in 2009, Princess of Mars. It was produced by the Asylum company, which made a specialty of being "inspired" by movie successes of the moment to release their own cheap versions. When... [Lire la suite]

"Gone But Not Really: 5 Beloved Franchises That Died (But Then Didn't, At All)" #JohnCarter #StarWars #HarryPotter #Avatar

If only it was true! Now we're almost four years after the release of John Carter (it had been released in the US on March the 9th of 2012), and there are still regularly articles hinting at the possibility of sequels to the movie. Here is one linked, from January the 8th of 2016, on the moviepilot.com site, by Adonis Gonzalez. The author writes about those franchises we thought were dead, and which come back in some way or another. On these 5 chosen, 4 had their sequels greenlit: Star Wars, Harry Potter (sort of, with David Yates'... [Lire la suite]

Happy New Year 2016! And what to look forward to for #JohnCarter and #Tarzan

First of all, I wish all of you a happy new year 2016! 2015 ended on a high note as far as I'm concerned, by viewing of Star Wars The Force Awakens, a movie that fulfilled all my expectations and hope for the future of Star Wars. http://normantrayfr.canalblog.com/archives/2015/12/28/33126557.html On the John Carter front, the year 2015 ended with two wonderful articles released after the release of Star Wars episode 7, one in French and one iun English, on the official Star Wars website, no less, reminding the influence the saga of... Star Wars: The Force Awakens – SPOILERS INSIDE!

For a long time I wondered if I was going to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I hesitated until the last moment. I was waiting for the first reviews to take a decision. Will go? Won’t go? I dreaded the too enthusiastic first reactions that were drowning the Internet. I still had the bad taste in my mouth from the prequels reviews, which were quite hyperbolic when they had been released (“Attack of the Clones is THE Star Wars you were hoping for!”, “Revenge of the Sith is at last a return to the true Star Wars!”, yeah, riiiight…). I... [Lire la suite]
