Retro-viewing: #Tarzan the Ape Man (1932)

While waiting for The Legend of Tarzan, to be released in July of juillet 2016, I just bought a 12 Tarzan movies collection of the movies starring Johnny Weissmuller from 1932 on, which left such an imprint in the audience minds that actor and character became one and only. I hadn't seen Tarzan the Ape Man in a very long time. Few black-and-white movies are aired on tv these days. In my mind, it had been an ok movie, and nothing more. Strangely enough, I must say that I can appreciate this movie now way more than I did when I saw it... [Lire la suite]

Happy New Year 2016! And what to look forward to for #JohnCarter and #Tarzan

First of all, I wish all of you a happy new year 2016! 2015 ended on a high note as far as I'm concerned, by viewing of Star Wars The Force Awakens, a movie that fulfilled all my expectations and hope for the future of Star Wars. http://normantrayfr.canalblog.com/archives/2015/12/28/33126557.html On the John Carter front, the year 2015 ended with two wonderful articles released after the release of Star Wars episode 7, one in French and one iun English, on the official Star Wars website, no less, reminding the influence the saga of... Star Wars: The Force Awakens – SPOILERS INSIDE!

For a long time I wondered if I was going to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I hesitated until the last moment. I was waiting for the first reviews to take a decision. Will go? Won’t go? I dreaded the too enthusiastic first reactions that were drowning the Internet. I still had the bad taste in my mouth from the prequels reviews, which were quite hyperbolic when they had been released (“Attack of the Clones is THE Star Wars you were hoping for!”, “Revenge of the Sith is at last a return to the true Star Wars!”, yeah, riiiight…). I... [Lire la suite]

#JohnCarter officially acknowledged as #StarWars ' ancestor!

THIS is what we should have seen as soon as John Carter's promotion began in 2011! George Lucas was in part inspired by Edgar Rice Burroughs' Barsoom stories, by his own admittance, and in the wake of Star Wars: The Force Awakens' phenomenal success, a wonderful article on StarWars.com acknowledges the links between the two sagas. Some will see in this a Disney attempt to sell more John Carter DVDs and BLU-RAYs, and why the hell not? The movie deserves it aplenty. ... [Lire la suite]

Let's go for The Legend of #Tarzan teaser!

Warner Bros doesn't let go of the pressure. After the photos and the poster, here is the first teaser for The Legend of Tarzan! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aj7ty6sViiU What can we learn from it? - We see Tarzan in his cot, discovered by Kala the Mangani, his future adoptive mother. She seems to have a child on her back, unlike the novels. Maybe is the toaddler Akut. Akut is an ape ally of Tarzan in the third novels, The Beasts of Tarzan. Maybe he will be in the movie an adoptive brother, and maybe it's him that is... [Lire la suite]

The Legend of #Tarzan : after the photos, the poster!

An official poster wasn't late in appearing after the first pictures. After months of dead silence, Warner is on fire! I really like the poster a lot, it features Tarzan and probably one of the Manganis who raised him in the jungle. The man/beast themes seem to be prominently used in the movie, and that's a good thing! The marketing so far is top-notch.

At last, the first official pictures of The Legend of #Tarzan !

Are below are the first two official pictures released by Warner Bros regarding The Legend of Tarzan. Very moody, very serious, very beautiful. For now it's the romantic angle that is pushed in the forefront, with this picture of Jane turning her back from a wounded Tarzan. Why not. While waiting for the meaty stuff, namely a first trailer, which had been rated PG, which will have a duration of 1:57, and which should appear in one to three weeks.

Will the new #Tarzan movie be named The Legend of Tarzan?

http://www.screendaily.com/news/dcm-2016-to-be-biggest-ever-year-for-family-films/5097247.article Near the end of this article are mentioned three movies presented by Warner Bros for 2016, Batman v Superman and Fantastic Beasts, but also "The Legend of Tarzan". It's the first time that this title is mentioned. Is it the real one? So far it hasn't been updated on IMDB.com. Among the latest news, not a lot really since the series of articles wondering if David Yates will be able to fully supervize the production of both of... [Lire la suite]

Tarzan 2016: the negativity begins already?

http://thejohncarterfiles.com/2015/10/uh-oh-here-it-comes-the-tarzan-negativity-narrative-has-begun/ One may beginning to wonder if Hollywwod seriously has something against Edgar Rice Burroughs adaptations. In a Hollywwod Reporter article of October the 14th of 2015, even if not a single frame has been released officially, the journalist Kim Masters shows a quite dark presentation out of the yet-to-come David Yates' Tarzan: not only is the movie unfinished, because David Yates was urgently required to helm Warner Bros' Harry Potter... Tarzan 2016: at least a more substantial feedback from the test screening!

Even if we don't have the whole details, here is what an IMDB user said about the April test screening, for which two short comments had been posted, one positive, one less so. http://normantrayeng.canalblog.com/archives/2015/04/19/31914436.html http://normantrayeng.canalblog.com/archives/2015/04/21/31926108.html This time these are comments from a Black American man aged between 25 and 44 (why is it important? Because the movie features touchy matters about African slavery in Congo during the 19th century), whose father... [Lire la suite]
