Tarzan 2016: the negativity begins already?

http://thejohncarterfiles.com/2015/10/uh-oh-here-it-comes-the-tarzan-negativity-narrative-has-begun/

One may beginning to wonder if Hollywwod seriously has something against Edgar Rice Burroughs adaptations. In a Hollywwod Reporter article of October the 14th of 2015, even if not a single frame has been released officially, the journalist Kim Masters shows a quite dark presentation out of the yet-to-come David Yates' Tarzan: not only is the movie unfinished, because David Yates was urgently required to helm Warner Bros' Harry Potter spin-of: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but the screening tests were supposedly disappointing (not entirely though, since we have proof of the opposite with this very detailed impressions: http://normantrayeng.canalblog.com/archives/2015/09/30/32707601.html), and the budget, estimated before between 100 and 120 millions dollars, would be in fact 180 millions! All this in the context of a worrying series of flops for the studio, among them Man from UNCLE, and the last resounding to date, Pan starring Hugh Jackman. Let's also note the unfortunate passing of one of the movies' champions, the talented producer Jerry Weintraub, who died on July the 6th of 2015.

Does that sound familiar? It's precisely in the same way that the negativity started in America for John Carter, after another "unnamed source" stated that the movie's budget was in fact 250 millions dollars. Before these resounding revelations, what had been Disney's reaction? None. They didn't move a finger. The Marketing Director would quit some weeks later, and no denial or attempt to nuance would ever appear, creating an unhealthy atmosphere that led ultimately to the movie's failure at the box-office. What will Warner Bros do? It's too early to tell, but we can easily see that Tarzan isn't a priority for them. All it take is looking at the very weak Pan marketing. Warner's department heads, drooling before Marvel's success, bet everything on their DC Universe (Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad), and on the movie derived from Harry Potter. As Disney wasn't at the time really in need of a franchise based on John Carter, because they had already bought Marvel and were in advanced negociations to get Star Wars.

Warner Bros really needs to polish the marketing of their Tarzan, and now, before the negativity settles for good. Let's hope for a strong trailer for this return of the Man-Ape on the silver screen.
